Empty Forest

Merle stepped into the lands he once knew. The desolate forest before him was nothing but a heap of ashes and fallen vegetation, fragile and ready to be dispersed into a million pieces at the touch of a paw. Merle grew up in the forest he stood in, now merely a flat plain (aside from the fallen trees scattering the ground). He knew this was claimed territory. He knew his heart lied in the city, though that territory was claimed as well. Not by him, of course, but by a pack. A pack of- "Dirty mutts," he thought allowed. After the war, things were hard on everybody; even the prey that walked the earth. But something about the day the explosion occurred…made Merle snap. The strays of the area became more dominant, aggressive- "More likely to rip my throat out." But Merle was clever, cunning. He knew the secrets of survival, and he wasn't going to let a pack of dogs stand in his way to glory. Merle sighed and looked back at the city. For once in his life he felt something missing inside of him. A longing. Almost an itch. Merle just closed his eyes and lay down, for once just wanting to die.

Okami trotted thru the forest his heavy coat swaying as his salmon pink tongue rolled out and his fangs glimmered. He was a very big Tibetan mastiff with killing strength. He sometimes kills yet usually sends coyotes,dogs, you name it fleeing into the forest with many wounds and a broken hind leg or paw. As he came into a clearing he noticed a animal standing with its eyes close and almost looking like it was wishing to die. Yet Okami has learned death is not the answer yet a couple wounds. Okami was much bigger and weighed 110 pounds and was all muscle. So he was not scared. Okami crouched moving forward slowly before he was a length away. He snarled leaping and roaring with fury before attempting to pin the unsuspecting animal down.
